Circuit des Yeux “maps a geography of grief” on -io

Elevating a 24-piece ensemble with her four-octave voice.

Vocalist and composer Haley Fohr, aka Circuit des Yeux, is releasing her sixth album, -io, via Matador this October.

Forh wrote, arranged, and produced -io herself, pairing her own four-octave voice with a 24-piece string, brass, and wind ensemble.

Written during the Coronavirus pandemic following personal loss, -io “maps a geography of grief” across its 10 tracks.

“This is what happens when you take grief’s smothering and render it in space: It expands. It becomes something you can traverse. … From the wreckage, something grows, and the ruin is no longer a ruin,” writes Sasha Geffen.

-io follows the label’s release of DARKSIDE’s Spiral LP in July.
