Drawing on Afrobeat, highlife, soul, and funk.
Eight-piece band Kokoroko are releasing their debut album, called Could We Be More, with Brownswood Recordings this August.
Kokoroko is formed of Sheila Maurice-Grey on trumpet/vocals, Cassie Kinoshi on alto sax/vocals, Richie Seivwright on trombone/vocals, Onome Edgeworth on percussion, Ayo Salawu on drums, Tobi Adenaike-Johnson on guitar, Yohan Kebede on synths/keyboard, and Duane Atherley on bass/ synths/keyboard.
Across Could We Be More’s 15 tracks the group draw on elements of Afrobeat, highlife, soul, and funk.
It follows their self-titled debut EP, which was also released on Brownswood.
