Behind the records with BadBadNotGood and Late Night Tales.

Canadian four-piece BadBadNotGood recently stepped up to curate the latest Late Night Tales compilation, digging deep into their respective record collections to put together a nocturnal suite of conscious soul, international funk and somnambulant atmospherics.

The selection reflects the breadth of BadBadNotGood’s sound, which has steadily infiltrated contemporary hip-hop and the genre formerly known as jazz with brash abandon; a stoned mash-up of Mahavishnu Orchestra, Can and J Dilla that landed them a production credit of Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN earlier this year.

Best enjoyed with a scented candle and a cup of chai, BadBadNotGood spoke to Late Night Tales at Toronto’s Cosmos Records about selecting records for the midnight hour, which you can watch exclusively above.

Out now on double vinyl, order the compilation here.
