A Grammy-winning artist who wrote hits for Angie Stone, En Vogue, Toni Braxton, Monica, and more.

Singer-songwriter Andrea Martin has died, aged 49.

Martin grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and went on to study at the prestigious LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

She had her breakout moment co-writing Monica’s 1995 hit ‘Before You Walked Out Of My Life’, and shortly after began writing for artists including Angie Stone, En Vogue, Toni Braxton, and SWV.

She was also a gifted singer, and released her debut album The Best Of Me in 1998 on Sony’s Arista Records.

Martin’s family confirmed her passing on Monday 27th September through her Instagram account.

‘Andrea will always be remembered for her passion and dedication to her family and friends. Her impact will continue to be felt and heard for a lifetime.”

At the time of writing, the cause of death is unknown.
