VF Live x Dekmantel Selectors: Kléo

DJ and visual artist Kléo makes her debut in the series ahead of her Dekmantel Selectors appearance, with boogie, house, acid, and early ’90s analog electronic vibes.

“For this mix I felt like I was channeling the rollercoaster of emotions I’ve been riding lately. Going from deep introspective moments to intense yearning for shared euphoria.

When I was recording this mix, my next-door neighbor lost it, and hysterically asked me if it was possible to record it in my headphones instead, lol. I thought: OK it’s definitely dancefloor time, I have out played the living room. Heading to Selectors Festival this week feels like that ray of sunshine peeking through heavy rain clouds.

It has been a bittersweet summer here in NL for the music industry. The Dutch government allowed our sector to re-open in June with inadequate Covid measures, only to shut it down again not even two weeks later. I played one insanely joyful party, and then the whole summer was canceled again.

Rather than tweaking the measures to allow for safe re-opening, they are keeping us shut until at least November. They made a bunch of promises they didn’t keep. It’s been quite crushing to be honest.

Selectors will be my first festival since 2019, and it still feels unreal. I cannot wait to play, dance, and share this moment together. This mix is a glimpse of what will be in my record bag in blissful Tisno.”
