A varied vinyl mix straight from Osaka.

Following on from the launch of our VF Live X Aloha Got Soul series, we’re excited to collaborate with a second record store to bring vinyl sets from the shop floor to your screen.

Rare Groove, located in Osaka, Japan, has been serving locals and travelling crate-diggers since 2007, all under the watchful eye of owner Norio Sato.

For the first instalment of our new VF Live X Rare Groove series, Norio, who curated the Heisei No Oto (Japanese Left-Field Pop From The CD Age, 1989-1996) compilation released in 2021, joins us for a set of ” 90’s Japanese house, techno, dub, and recent Japanese and Asian electronic and dance music”.

Recorded in-store at Rare Groove using two Technics SL1200MK3 and a Urei 1620LE rotary mixer, Norio’s mix draws heavily from local labels in Osaka and Kyoto as well as labels from his friends across Asia. Fall in love with the tracks? You might just have to swing by Rare Groove for a visit.
