Because every record collection has a story.

Home Grown is our series profiling you lot and your excellent record collections. Taking our cue from the brilliant submissions to the #VFRecordCollections thread on Instagram, we want to share a little of your hard-earned love for vinyl with the world.

Each week, we’ll be profiling a different collector from around the world and finding out what makes them tick. Want in? Send us a pic and a few words about your collection to [email protected]

Name: Lcj Kyrro

Location: Brussels

# of records (approx.): 4500 (1500 in the photo)

How long have you been collecting for?

Since the ’90s. First disco, then rock, jazz and beyond. When I started playing bass I began digging for records more often, especially music with interesting bass lines, something I’ve never stopped looking for.

What part of your set-up are you most proud of?

My Reloop turntable and Sony amplifier.

What record(s) are you most proud of?

There are a lot of records in my collection I’m proud of, from rock to jazz, but my favourites are the ones with grooves and sexy bass lines from the ’70s to the ’90s. Like the Commodores’ Wonderland; Quincy Jones, Barry White, James Ingram and Al B. Sure’s ‘The Secret Garden’, Acid Jazz’s Totally Wired 5 compilation, and Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sanctified Lady’.

What does your record collection mean to you?

Each record that I add to my collection becomes a part of my family.
