Name: Nick Nack

Instagram: @DJNack

Location: Austin, Texas

# of records (approx.): 10,000 LPs and a few hundred 45s.

How long have you been collecting for? About 28 years.

What part of your set-up are you most proud of?

The craftsmanship and detail of the shelves that I built and the turntable cabinet. Each shelf has two 1″ square metal tubes inside so they won’t sag…ever. There’s a lip on the back of each shelf so the records don’t rub up against the wall leaving marks. The main cabinet was built by Willard Woodworks, and has a custom walnut tambour door that, when closed, completely hides the DJ set-up leaving you with a beautiful piece of furniture.

What record(s) are you most proud of?

That’s a tough one… Probably the strange/eclectic vocal records I’ve accumulated over the years. They’re something I just fell into collecting. Not many other people collect them, so I guess I’m most proud of those records in the sense of them being unique to me.

What does your record collection mean to you?

It’s the physical definition of my musical journey. As a DJ it represents how long I have been in the game. As a producer it means that I have an endless supply of samples and inspiration to draw from.
