Horse Meat Disco

This quartet of UK-based disco savants are full-time Grace Jones devotees. Having recently celebrated the release of Grace Jones: The Disco Years, Horse Meat Disco’s Severino explains why Jones’ take on ‘La Vie En Rose’ is a masterpiece.

Grace Jones is powerful, tall, handsome and seriously sexy. Her version of ‘La Vie En Rose’ is a masterpiece. She did a great job because she’s not French and that is such an important French song. Her vibe when she sings it is incredibly charming. I’m always amazed after the break when she’s back singing the last part of the song – it’s sooo powerful!

Slave To The Rhythm is another favourite, plus the video is so futuristic. I love the intro: “Ladies and gentleman, Miss Grace Jones… Jones…”
