Best served with a slice of cherry pie.
The only thing more eagerly anticipated than this soundtrack reissue has been the Twin Peaks reboot itself, which could well be described as the television event of the decade. Whilst we nervously wait to find out if Dale Cooper will be himself (if you know what we mean), Angelo Badalamenti’s haunting score has been on heavy rotation at VF HQ.
For the first time in twenty five years, the item is finally back in print thanks to Death Waltz, who went the whole hog to make this reissue perfect. New vinyl masters were cut, new lacquers were cut and the record has been pressed to 180g heavyweight vinyl, coloured to match Coop’s “Damn fine coffee”.
“I’m glad that after 25 years, Death Waltz Recording Company has re-released the original soundtrack for Twin Peaks for a new audience to enjoy,” said Badalamenti. “This is my defining work as a composer and I’m happy it will get a fresh listen”
The edition includes David Lynch-approved artwork by Sam Smith and comes housed in a 425gsm gatefold sleeve featuring lyrics and liner notes by Badalamenti. The gatefold sleeve is housed within a bespoke die cut outer jacket designed by Jay Shaw featuring super subtle white spot varnish text.
One of the greatest scores ever recorded and possibly reissue of the year, marvel at the record in the gallery below and then listen to this incredible Twin Peaks tribute mix.
