Former Sonic Youth frontman releases live show in support of London’s vaunted avant-garde venue.

Thurston Moore’s long-running association with East London’s experimental music hub Cafe OTO is to be further strengthened with the release of his and Alex Ward’s Live at Cafe OTO LP on the venue’s in-house OTOroku label. Billed as a fundraiser of sorts, proceeds from the release, which is being limited to just 100 copies will go towards acquiring new equipment for the venue, who have built themselves a reputation as the capital’s go-to venue for the most challenging and exciting music around.

Pitting Moore’s jangling guitar improv with support from Ward’s clarinet and amplifier tinkering, Live At Cafe OTO was recorded at the cafe in March 2012 and is definitely one for the Moore completist and anyone who has followed his post-Sonic Youth movements, which last year saw him release a unique hand-painted box set with former partner Kim Gordon under the ethereal patronage of Yoko Ono. Earlier this year, Moore announced that he will be releasing a full length solo LP in the summer.
