Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds announce new LP Skeleton Tree

And an accompanying concert film.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds have announced their sixteenth studio album Skeleton Tree. The follow-up to 2013’s Push The Sky Away, the LP lands on September 9 – althoug the first opportunity to hear the record will be when the concert film One More Time With Feeling is screened worldwide on September 8.

The Bad Seeds started work on Skeleton Key in 2014 at Retreat Studios in Brighton before further sessions took place in 2015 at La Frette Studios in France. It was previously revealed that the band would not release any singles from the LP before its theatrical debut to ensure the accompanying film is “the first medium through which anyone anywhere will be able to hear & experience the songs”.

Directed by Andrew Dominik and shot in both 2D and 3D, the film delves into the “tragic backdrop of the writing and recording of the album”, which will be the first since Cave’s teenage son died after falling from a cliff last year. The film will intersperse interviews and footage of the band with Cave’s narration to portrait the Bad Seeds as they prepare their most raw and intimate work to date.

Skeleton Tree will be released on vinyl, CD and digital on September 9.
