One half of ambient house act The Orb, Alex Paterson has spoken on BBC Radio 4’s Today program about his prized collection of vinyl.

With their new LP More Tales From The Orbservatory alongside astral dub traveller Lee “Scratch” Perry released today, The Orb’s Alex Paterson welcomed the BBC into his 30,000 strong record cave for a snoop around.

Presenting the early Bob Marley 7″s that take pride of place in the collection, Paterson discusses the old school appeal of vinyl, his passion for sampling archive audio (the original Apollo moon-landing recordings and the world’s airport waiting rooms to name a few) and the joys of finding something unexpected, like learning of the orignal version of Madness’ “It Must Be Love” by British songwriter and poet Labbi Siffre.
