Defunct US online music retailer Dancerecords.com puts remaining stock on eBay as bulk purchase.

With bids starting at $10,000 (roughly £6,500), this may be the ultimate vinyl mystery box. One hell of a bounty, the shipment consists of the closing inventory of major online store Dancerecords.com and some of the closing inventory of NYC’s Watts Music, one of the nation’s biggest dance music distributors.

Up for sale as a whole collection weighing somewhere between 35 and 40,000 pounds (c. 18,000kg), the 69,592+ records, singles and promos have yet to receive any bids, perhaps because of the minor caveat that “the buyer will be responsible for paying to ship the records to their location” from storage near San Francisco.

Touted as a definitive collection of house, trance, techno and drum & bass, comparable to only “2 or 3 other collections in the world, and they are at active record stores in Europe”, the seller has provided a downloadable excel spreadsheet of every single record in the collection. [via mixmag]
