David Bowie’s “Sorrow” to get 40th anniversary picture disc reissue

More catnip for Bowie completists as 1973 hit “Sorrow” becomes latest in extensive reissue campaign.

It’s been a busy year for Bowie collectors. While new album The Next Day stole the headliners with singles like “Valentine’s Day” pressed on picture-disc 7″, there’s also been a steady flow of 40th anniversary reissues, with “Sorrow” set to follow “Life On Mars” and the V&A’s coloured-mixed “Excerpts from the Outside”.

A cover of The McCoy’s 1965 hit, “Sorrow” was the only single to be released from Bowie’s Pin Ups project – the last to feature the bulk of Ziggy Stardust’s house band The Spiders From Mars. Originally backed by “Amsterdam”, a cover of Jacques Brel’s “Port Of Amsterdam”, the 40th anniversary edition will instead include a live version of the track recorded in Vancouver in 1983.
