Having come a long way since Paul Whiteman and his orchestra released ‘I Found A New Baby’ in July 1942, Capitol records will celebrate 75 years in the business throughout 2017 with a series of projects, spanning reissues, publishing and TV.

Over the course of next year, Capitol will reissue 75 albums on vinyl, taking in classic releases as well as lesser-known gems from across the label’s vast catalogue. While exact titles are yet to be revealed, Capitol has announced that Coldplay, Katy Perry, Bonnie Raitt, The Beatles and Frank Sinatra will be among those featured in what they’re calling The Capitol Records 75th Anniversary Collection.

Capitol are also teaming up with publishers Taschen to create a deluxe photograph and essay book called 75 Years of Capitol Records, featuring a foreword by Beck and contributions from a range of critics and cultural historians who trace the famous West Coast label from 1942 to the present day. Finally, a documentary series will be screened in late 2017 telling the story of the label and its HQ at Capitol Tower. The series will be produced by produced by Nigel Sinclair’s Whitehorse Pictures, who has The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years and No Direction Home: Bob Dylan to their name.
