Home of Kurt Vile, Oneohtrix Point Never and Ariel Pink presents its five year stock take with special collaborative 10″.

There was really only going to be one way that the forward-thinking vinyl enthusiasts at Mexican Summer were going to mark their first five years in the business. True to the label’s founding emphasis on ornate limited edition vinyl releases, Mexican Summer are set to publish a 250-page book featuring art and ephemera, photos and written contributions from across the label’s roster that will be limited to just 1,000 copies.

As FACT report, the book will not only have an embossed cloth cover and a screen-printed paper wrap, but will be accompanied by an exclusive 10″ vinyl bringing together a whole hosts of acts from the label for a series of exclusive collaborations between the likes of Autre Ne Veut and Fennesz, Bobb Trimble and Quilt, Bay Of Pigs (Spiritualized, Soldiers Of Fortune and Neil Hagerty), Jorge Elbrose (Jorge Elbrecht and Ariel Pink), and The Lonely Sailor and Renée Mendoza Haran (members of Total Control, Lace Curtain & Ashrae Fax). A dab hand at keeping things exclusive, Mexican Summer will not be making the music available digitally.

With over 100 releases to their name across several formats, Mexican Summer’s love affair with vinyl was consummated in 2009 when they joined forces with parent label Kemado records and several other independent imprints to open Co-Op 87; a self-professed ‘co-operative’ record store in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Co-Op 87 will be hosting a pop-up store at the label’s forthcoming festival at Pioneer Works Center for Art and Innovation in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn. Planed for 11-13th October, the event will feature sets from Spiritualized, Ariel Pink, No Joy and Tamaryn among others. [via FACT]
