Dark disco meets John Carpenter.

Having become something of a household name for their eclectic album reissues (from rare ’70s jazz to Kylie Minogue), Be With Records has turned their attentions to 12″s for the first time and the dark and stormy coldwave cut from the mysterious Anna.

Signed to RCA for the 1982 release, very little is known about Anna, whose vocals lend an unsettling sense of dread to a track that pivots between melancholy and cathartic release; a synthetic love letter to emotional collapse.

Produced by disco-pop mavericks Geraint Hughes and Ken Leray, the original track on the a-side is backed by a more uptempo ‘Dance Version’, something of a dark disco-meets-John Carpenter tour-de-force that magnifies the original’s glorious sense of melodrama.

Housed in a 12″ replica of the original maxi single, Anna’s ‘Systems Breaking Down’ will be released on Be With Records on 28th October. Click here to pre-order your copy.
