Zappa’s first solo album Lumpy Gravy will be restored from a pristine 1968 analog safety tape found in his vault. Also on the slate is Joe’s Garage, a 1979 rock opera, which Zappa once described as a “stupid little story about how the government is going to do away with music.”

The remaining titles are The Mothers of Invention albums: Cruising With Ruben & The Jets, Weasels Ripped My Flesh and We’re Only In It For The Money.

The series is part of 50th anniversary celebrations of Zappa’s first release, The Mothers of Invention’s debut album Freak Out!.

The five records are due to land on December 9.
