Record store owner stumbles upon 100,000 sealed records in basement

He bought the lot in five minutes flat.

Owner of Minnesota’s Mill City Sound record shop, Rob Sheeley has discovered an unprecedented haul of sealed vinyl records in a Texan basement.

Spanning the classics from Prince and Bob Marley to The Ramones and Frank Zappa, the collection of 100,000 virgin discs was the entire inventory of a record store that closed its doors in 1984.

The discovery was made in January and was quite literally a life changing moment. “It took everything I had to keep it together,” Sheeley told Star Tribute.

Within five minutes, he bought the entire stock for close to $100,000. He then faced the difficult challenge of transporting the haul and filing them in his shop, as the photos in the gallery below illustrate:
