We visited Trevor Jackson in his East London studio to talk about his ambitious new project F O R M A T.

A collection of unreleased material and his first new album in fourteen years, Trevor Jackson’s F O R M A T is no ordinary release. With each of the twelve tracks released on a different physical music format, it is both a personal statement and a celebration of the changing physical forms music has assumed over the last seventy years.

Presented in a characteristically beautiful and uncompromising way, the project pays homage to the inherent form of each sound carrier and the ritual involved in purchasing and owning a physical piece of music. As Jackson says: “This music is the result of many years of experimentation and evolution, created by physical machines, fed through objects with personality steeped in history. The fact culturally everything’s become so convenient and easily accessible whilst in the process totally disposable is an important subject I need to address in this project.”
