The sand must be a nightmare at the Converse Desert Lab. Taking special care to keep it out of the grooves, Young Turks Records have opened a unique pop-up vinyl pressing plant in Palm Springs as part of the opening weekend of Coachella festival.

Announced via the London label’s Tumblr The Palm Springs Press was opened on Friday and is putting a choice of the Young Turk’s back catalogue up for on-demand 12″ repress, featuring unspecified rarities from The XX to SBTRKT and El Guincho.

Converse are calling it a “collision of art and music” with each record cut to order in real time coming with artwork designed by Manchester illustrator Dr. Me.

While this may be the electronic music label’s first foray into vinyl manufacturing, it’s certainly a cool way to spend your nickels and dimes as you wait for another dead rap star hologram.
