The Book and Record Bar opens its doors in West Norwood on Saturday 31st August.

Opening on the site of the old Gypsy Queen pub on Norwood High Street, The Book and Record Bar will combine second hand books and vinyl sales from local “Record Man” Michael Johnson’s collection of over 8,000 records. As reported by Hyponik, the new store will by raising the curtain over the weekend of 31st August and 1st September with live shows from West Norwood Cassette Library and Metamomo.

In what promises to be a haven for slow readers and listeners alike and a welcome antidote to the hyperbole of retail rhetoric in the digital age, The Book And Record Bar will be curated by Johnson himself, who has previously helped to compile the Rare Records Price Guide. Needless to say, we reckon the selection will be impeccable.

The Book And Record Bar is located at 20 Norwood High Street, SE27 9NR with regular updates and some cool photos from the refurbishment of the pub via their Facebook page.
