Iconic NYC record shop returns to host Come Together with MoMA PS1.

MoMA PS1 is teaming up with recently closed New York record store institution Other Music for a special music festival and label market in March 2017.

After twenty years as the home of the city’s alternative and underground music scene, the closure of Other Music was one of the shocks of 2016, citing the increasingly impossible rental climate in Manhattan as responsible.

With it went not only a music outlet but meeting point for a thriving local community. For Come Together: Music Festival and Label Market, MoMA PS1 and Other Music hope to resurrect something of that feeling, with live performances, films, workshops, and panel discussions.

As a statement on the event reads: “While the very fabric of music culture has been stretched — maybe shredded — by fast-changing digital platforms, the central and essential role that communities play in both the creation and consumption of cutting-edge sounds remains unchanged.”

While attendees are yet to be confirmed, the label market promises to showcase the best local and international independent labels pushing the boundaries of the recorded medium.

Come Together: Music Festival and Label Market will take place on Sunday, March 26th, 2017 from 12pm until 6pm. Click here for more info.
