Jimi Hendrix’s Merry Christmas And Happy New Year reissued on 10″ vinyl

Jimi Hendrix’s Merry Christmas And Happy New Year will be reissued on vinyl in time for the festive period.

The compilation opens with a medley of ‘Little Drummer Boy / Silent Night / Auld Lang Syne’, recorded in 1969 as Jimi and his Band Of Gypsys were rehearsing for their Fillmore East show in New York. The B-Side features an extended version of this recording.

“Knowing that this was going to be a special occasion, Jimi readied and recorded this medley of holiday favorites to celebrate both Christmas and the dawning of a new decade,” reads the press notes.

The second A-Side track is ‘Three Little Bear’, which was recorded with The Experience in 1968 during sessions for Electric Ladyland. It was originally released on the posthumous compilation War Heroes.

First released in 2010, Music On Vinyl has pressed 1,500 hand numbered 10″ copies for a re-release, due on 31 October. Find out more here.
