We Be All Africans due on vinyl in June.

Astral jazz pioneer Idris Ackamoor and his band The Pyramids will follow up their 2012 album Otherwordly with We Be All Africans, set to be released on Strut Records this summer.

A pupil of heavyweight avant garde pianist Cecil Taylor and contemporary of Sun Ra and Pharoah Sanders in developing a cosmically inclined strain of spiritual jazz, Ackamoor and The Pyramids recorded and privately released a trio of incredibly rare albums Lalibela (1973), King Of Kings (1974) and Birth / Speed / Merging (1976) before disbanding the following year.

Championed by Gilles Peterson and German label Disko B, the band were coaxed out of retirement in 2010, their extravagant, theatrical live shows breathing new life in their music’s afro-jazz sound.

Recorded in Berlin, Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids’ We Be All Africans will be released on vinyl on 24th June via Strut Records, complete with new Lewis Heriz artwork. Check it out below.
