Cover of Alan Vega’s “Bye Bye Bayou” resurfaces in the DFA’s “rapidly emptying closets”.
Originally released as a limited edition for 2009’s Record Store Day, James Murphy and co.’s cover of Alan Vega’s 1981 single “Bye Bye Bayou” taken off the Suicide singer’s debut solo album has been discovered at DFA Records. Released on a 45rpm 12″, Murphy’s 2009 remake features the full length version on the A-side and an A capella on the flip and was previously been believed to have been sold out.
In other more prescient James Murphy news, the maverick producer has teamed up with Soulwax to build “Despacio”, a jaw-dropping 8-stack vinyl-only soundsystem, which will be premiered at the Manchester International Festival next week.
